By plane would have been faster, but it was unthinkable on every level. First ecologically, then logistically—there was no way to haul all the gear from one airport to another, nor to reach huts that are often tucked away far from main roads. And then, there’s Elvis...
So the idea of taking my Suzuki Jimny, as I usually do, quickly became a no-brainer!
It will get me into the most remote valleys, no matter the terrain or the weather.
Robust enough to handle the toughest ground, with a very reasonable fuel consumption for a 4x4, and big enough to pack everything. Though a few more cubic centimeters wouldn't have hurt! Elvis’s crate alone takes up half the trunk...
A few extra pieces of gear still need to be sorted before departure, but the essentials are already there!
Another huge advantage is the rooftop tent, which will give me a breather when fatigue sets in or the weather turns too unpredictable.
Above all, my Jimny is essential for managing the battery charging logistics and giving me the autonomy to stay in remote spots for days at a time.
Even so, I'll still need to connect to high-speed Wi-Fi regularly at least once every ten days to transfer hundreds of gigabytes of footage.
